Gold Coast's Light Rail Stage 4Written on the 8 January 2024
We're thrilled to announce our involvement in the groundbreaking Light Rail Stage 4 project on the Gold Coast, alongside Queensland's Transport Main Roads (TMR) and the City of Gold Coast! At Subsurface Mapping Solutions Pty, we've been hard at work providing invaluable underground utility mapping solutions that are instrumental in the success of this transformative project. Our team's efforts contribute crucial existing utility information, aiding in the design process of this significant 13-kilometre extension.
Stage 4: Expanding Connectivity and Progress The 13-kilometre Stage 4 extension of the Light Rail, positioned to the south of Stage 3, establishes a vital link between Burleigh Heads and Coolangatta via the Gold Coast Airport. This expansion is a strategic response to accommodate the growing population in the region. The design of the Gold Coast Light Rail system adopts a phased approach to address the evolving needs of the community. By delivering the system in stages, it can effectively cater to the increasing population. The primary objective of the Light Rail system is to provide convenient access to key cultural and urban destinations. These include the iconic Burleigh Head National Park, Palm Beach Village Centre, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Southern Cross University, Gold Coast Airport, and the bustling Coolangatta shopping and business precinct. Subsurface Mapping Solution's Ground Penetrating Radar: Unveiling the Hidden World Think of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) as an X-ray for the earth. This cutting-edge technology sends radar pulses deep into the ground, revealing hidden features like pipes, cables, and voids with remarkable accuracy. GPR offers several key benefits: Crystal-Clear Images: Unlike traditional single or dual-frequency GPRs, The StreamDP multichannel GPR coupled with the highly accurate GS18T GNSS antenna paints a detailed picture of the subsurface infrastructure, pinpointing utilities with laser-like precision. There is no more guesswork, just actionable knowledge. Swift & Efficient: Compared to traditional, time-consuming methods, The StreamDP multichannel GPR allows for rapid in-field data collection, saving valuable time and resources and keeping the project on track and budget. The need for messy paint on the sidewalk and joining the dots is gone. After the project has been post-processed, a survey file of the findings is issued. Minimally Invasive: Unlike disruptive techniques, GPR surveys are completely non-destructive, requiring no digging and minimising surface impact. We're honoured to play a key role in this initiative and look forward to witnessing the positive impact it will have on the Gold Coast community. Subsurface Mapping Solutions, with our expertise in GPR and other cutting-edge locating technology and unwavering commitment to collaboration in transport and other sectors, is poised to play a leading role in shaping this exciting future.
